MW : what attracted you to choose this creative career?
Alexandra: I think just growing up around all girls, we were three sisters and all of us were into makeup and fashion and beauty, so we kinda all brought it out on each other and encouraged each other on our passions. My sister loves fashion, she’s a fashion designer, my younger sister is an aspiring model and I’m the beauty queen!! MW: How long have you been in this industry? Alexandra: Well, I’ve been modeling since I was 12 years old but I just started doing beauty pageants when I was 19 and MW : How has your journey been this far? Alexandra: I think it’s been one of the most amazing journeys that I could have chosen, because a lot of people underestimate the beauty pageant world but I think that it really educates girls, and encourages them to be intelligent and to be well spoken! It helps them educate themselves about the world issues and make them confident to be able to bring about a change. This industry really gave me a platform to express my thoughts and to bring out the best in me. |
MW: Since the beginning of your pageant career tell me about a situation that has made you proud!
Alexandra: I think the one memory that I’m most fond of is when I was able to speak to children in the Dominican Republic and the underprivileged schools. I spoke to them about environment and climate change. After making them aware of these issues, it was amazing to see their MW: How do you like being in LA? Alexandra: I LOVE being in LA! I think it’s a place where everyone can find their niche, there is so much going on here and there’s such a variety of people, that you’ll never be lonely here. MW: Your skin is so beautiful Alexandra, how do you maintain it? Alexandra: Thank you! Well, I honestly wash my face every single day before I go to bed. I know sometimes when I’m coming home from shoots or coming back from a party when I’m so tired, I just don’t want to wash my face but I always do it. This prevents my skin from breaking out! I also think diet is very important, I drink no soda and a lot of water to keep my skin healthy and glowing. |
MW: What would be one advice/suggestion you would want to give to the young girls out there?
Alexandra: I would say that you don’t have to give in to the social pressures, to be sexual or sell a provocative image. I feel like you can still be classy, be a lady and still be admired and looked up to without selling so much sex!
